This property participates in the City of Seattle Multifamily Property Tax Exemption (MFTE) Program. There is a select number of homes in this property that are part of this program. These homes are available to low to moderate income households, with specific income requirements dependent on the size of the household and the number of bedrooms. These homes are open to all prospective residents that meet the property’s rental screening criteria and are determined to be income eligible for the MFTE program. Prospective residents will complete the property’s standard rental screening process. Once complete, the property will certify the income of the household to determine program eligibility. To be considered eligible the applicant must demonstrate that the total anticipated household income for the year after move-in is below a maximum income limit for the home. Eligible residents will receive a restricted rent that is capped at a maximum amount for a defined period. Ineligible applicants may not rent the income restricted unit. Please contact the front office for any specific questions.

More Ways to Make Seattle Feel Like Home

At Janus, we believe finding a home that fits your life should also fit your budget. Through the City of Seattle’s Multifamily Property Tax Exemption (MFTE) Program, a select collection of apartment homes is available at rent-restricted rates for income-qualified households.

Janus offers income-qualifying studio, open one-bedroom, one-bedroom, one-bedroom with den and two-bedroom floor plans. Availability is limited and changes throughout the year.

What Is the MFTE Program?

The MFTE Program helps expand access to affordable rental housing throughout Seattle. Participating communities reserve select apartment homes for households that meet income requirements established by the City of Seattle. Eligibility is based on:

  • The total anticipated gross annual income of your household
  • The number of people who will live in the apartment
  • The income limit assigned to the apartment home you select
  • Janus’ standard rental screening criteria
  • Any applicable student eligibility requirements

Income and rent limits are updated periodically and may vary by apartment.

How Do I Qualify?

To qualify for an MFTE apartment at Janus, your household’s anticipated gross annual income must fall within the limit established for the home you select. Income from all household members and applicable sources will be reviewed as part of the certification process.

Meeting the income requirements does not guarantee approval. All prospective residents must also satisfy Janus’ standard rental screening criteria and complete the required income verification process.
